ABOUT THE PARK

Splashwadi started as four slides and a borrowed pump on nine acres of dry farmland off the Sanand road. The first summer, 3,000 people came. Last summer, 340,000 did.

The idea was simple and hasn't changed: Ahmedabad gets brutally hot for four months a year, and a day in cold water shouldn't cost a week's wages. So we keep weekday tickets under ₹700, we don't charge per ride, and the lockers and tubes that other parks meter out are just included.

We're still run by the same family, and most of our 180 seasonal staff come from the four villages within 6km of the gate. The lifeguards are certified every March by an external agency, and the water plant is audited quarterly — we publish those readings at the gate because we would want to see them too.

There's a lot we still don't have. No hotel, no bowling alley, no dolphin. What we do have is 14 rides, a very good thali, and shade in the right places.
